Musicals based on the life of famous recording artists are well-known and much-loved in London’s West End, with shows like Jersey Boys and Sunny Afternoon obtaining award-winning success over the years. Now the longest-running show at the Aldwych Theatre, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical immerses you in the inspiring story of her career which spun over seven decades.
Why you should see Tina: The Tina Turner Musical
- This musical is jam-packed with powerful performances, breathtaking vocals, and dynamic staging.
- One of the biggest music icons, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical perfectly captures the essence of Tina Turner's resilience and talent.
- Tina herself was involved in the creative process of the show resulting in a very accurate retelling of Tina Turner's life.
About Tina: The Tina Turner Musical
Tina: The Tina Turner Musical chronicles the remarkable life of Tina Turner, from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her rise to superstardom as the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. The musical follows Tina's journey as she overcomes immense challenges, including an abusive relationship and professional setbacks, to emerge as a global icon. The show also features 23 songs from Tina's best-selling discography including 'What's Love Got To Do With It', 'Proud Mary' and 'River Deep Mountain High'.
Along with Turner, whose music and lyrics will form the foundations of TINA, the creative team also comprises of award-winning playwright Katori Hall, whose last West End play, The Mountaintop won her the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2010, and director Phyllida Lloyd. Lloyd’s last West End directing credit is none other than the ultimate jukebox musical, Mamma Mia!, which still plays to this day next door to TINA at the Novello Theatre. Lloyd also directed the film version, starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. She returns to the West End with a number of the creative team that helped make Mamma Mia! a worldwide smash, including choreographer, Anthony van Laast, designer Mark Thompson and musical supervisor Nicholas Skilbeck.
Tina: The Tina Turner Musical enables you to witness the journey Turner undertook from her humble beginnings to international stardom which will leave you feeling uplifted and energised by her indomitable spirit and timeless music.

OutstandingI originally booked to see this show in NY in 2021 but sadly the cast all had covid so it was cancelled..so glad I finally got to see it. It was incredible! The music obviously is fabulous. The story of Anna-Mae's humble beginnings to superstar Tina Turner is one of humour, sadness, determination and plain talent. The cast were wonderful and 'Tina'played by Karis Anderson on our evening..well what can I say? She WAS Tina! And dare I say it, she is 'simply the best'.. what an incredible talent she is. 10/10. We loved the show, the story and the music. We were not ready for it to end. A must see and not just for Tina Turner fans. We could watch this again and again.

Powerful Story of a Powerful WomanGives a moving précis of her troubled life: effectively told, with humour and direct but brief reference to her personal relationship difficulties.
