Many people might not realise that certain Apple devices are actually capable of outputting a digital optical audio signal. These devices feature a clever combination jack in the form of a 3.5mm headphone jack. This output doubles as a standard analog stereo output, as well as a digital optical output (configurable in system software). This allows you to connect to a compatible hi-fi or home theatre receiver and achieve up to 192 kHz digital stereo audio or 5.1 surround sound (depending on source material).

The Neotech NOC4 optical cable is perfect for connecting these devices as it features the 3.5mm (mini-Toslink) connector on one end, and a standard full sized Toslink connector on the other. And should your hi-fi amp or receiver only support the 3.5mm mini-Toslink input, a handy adaptor is included that converts the full sized Toslink connector into a 3.5mm mini-Toslink connector.
