It seemed like runner-up Megan Fox was the shoo-in to take Maxim‘s Hot 100 crown, but it’s House, M.D. doc Olivia Wilde who has landed the mag’s top spot.

As Wilde, 25, preps to star alongside Jack Black and Michael Cera in this month’s biblical spoof Year One, here’s some inside scoop on this year’s Ambassador of Hotness.

1. She’s TV’s go-to bi-sexual
In 2004, Wilde set tongues wagging when she helped Mischa Barton‘s character Marissa Cooper unleash her bisexual on The O.C. “I continue to get letters from girls around the world,” she told PEOPLE in 2007 of her infamous onscreen kiss with Barton. Now, on House, she plays Thirteen, a bi-sexual doc with a life-threatening neurological disorder.

2. Her hubby is royalty
Wilde may be sitting pretty with her hotness crown, but her husband, Tao Ruspoli, is actual royalty! Ruspoli, whom she eloped with when she was 18, is an Italian prince whose family owns Rome’s Palazzo Ruspoli and a castle in Vignanello, Italy – where they held their wedding ceremony in its famed gardens. “I was very lucky I met this person,” she told PEOPLE.

3. Her pup Paco is a spokesmodel
Wilde isn’t the only beauty in her household! Her mutt, Paco, won a contest to be “spokesdog” for Old Navy in 2006. “He still acts like a doggie model sometimes,” she told Women s Health in January. “If I put a T-shirt on him, he won’t move. He thinks he’s back at the job; he’ll strike a pose and just sit there.”

4. She ditched the family trade & surname
Wilde has journalism running in her veins: Her parents, Andrew and Leslie Cockburn, are well-known international journalists, who’ve produced documentaries and segments for 60 Minutes. She was born a Cockburn, but she changed her last name to Wilde, after playing Gwendolen in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest in high school.

5. She barely made the Hot List last year
Wilde arguably made the biggest leap on Maxim‘s list, jumping 96 spots from her rank last year, to reign supreme on the men’s magazine’s annual list. “I’m considered sexy even though I’m wearing a lab coat every day and seen as a doctor on TV,” she told Maxim – which rounded out its top 10 with Megan Fox, Bar Refaeli, Malin Akerman, Mila Kunis, Eliza Dushku, Adriana Lima, Rihanna, Jordana Brewster and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
