PHOENIXVILLE, PA - While population growth in the U.S. is slowing in the last decade due to declining birth rates, an aging population and fewer immigrants, Phoenixville is among the towns in Pennsylvania that is growing.

Stacker, an online data company, compiled a list of the fastest-growing “cities” in Pennsylvania using data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Phoenixville’s population grew by 2,353 people from 2010 to 2020. The population grew by 14.6% to 18,602
The study includes cities, boroughs and other population centers, which were ranked by the highest population growth from 2010 to 2020. The ranking places the borough at 1,905 for fastest growing nationwide.
The borough has experienced an influx of restaurants, breweries, and apartments. It has a growing population of young professionals and empty nesters.
A plan to restore passenger train service from Philadelphia to Reading, with stops in Phoenixville is in the works. The proposed train stops also include Norristown, King of Prussia and Pottstown.
In the wake of the pandemic, many people are moving to cities, according to the Stacker report.
The report also lists Montgomery County towns in the top 20 towns experiencing population growth:
They are:
5. King of Prussia, Upper Merion Township: population increase of 4,960, a 25% increase to 24,695.
10. Lansdale: population increase of 1,780, 19.2% percent, to 18,773.
12. Bryn Mawr: Lower Merion Township: a population increase of 2,369, 67.5% increase to 5,879.
