VR smut gives porn superstar Sasha Grey the willies

An award-winning former adult movie star has described virtual reality porn as “too lifelike” – and vowed not to use it herself.

The porn industry is expected to be revolutionised by the technology which is now easily accessible due to the mass production of VR headsets.

But porn actress Sasha Grey told CNBC: “VR porn is too much, too in your face.

“I watched a trailer once, and that was enough for me. I don’t think people watch porn to have a real experience, it’s for fantasy.”

Grey, 28, starred in pornography films between the ages of 18 and 21 before making a successful switch into mainstream movies.

Her comments come as new Google data reveals searches for VR porn have jumped 10,000 percent this summer.

Perhaps surprisingly, the top three countries searching the term are Norway, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

VR porn is described as an immersive experience that provides 180-degree views of actual porn actors and actresses acting out specific scenes.

Using your chosen VR device (Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift or Google Cardboard), porn aficionados can sit back and enjoy the view.

Gadget geeks and tech journalists who have already tried out the new service say it’s so realistic that it will be difficult to go back to 2D porn.

Naughty America, the company behind this latest hi-tech way to pass the time, has admitted that people will not be buying VR visors just for pornography but that this adult content option will be “the icing on the cake.”
