In the last year, 1th graders at the "Daganiya" school, adopt Nahal Galim as part of the program "Taking responsibility for nature" of the Society for the Protection of Nature, in cooperation with the Tirat HaCarmel municipality and under the auspices of the MED-XNUMX company.
As part of the program, a joint trip was recently held by the employees of MED-1, the largest company in Israel in the field of DATA CENTERS, together with XNUMXth graders, during which they got to know the wide drainage basin of the river.
During the trip, the students and employees enjoyed a joint activity, explored the river's surroundings with the help of research tasks and formulated recommendations for its restoration.
Nahal Galim is part of the Carmel Park that starts near the university, passes through Tirat-Carmel and flows into the Mediterranean Sea south of Kfar Galim.
The purpose of the program is to create a basis for the growth of community leadership in the area, connected to the sites that invite the immediate environment and take care of and nurture it.
Naomi Ken Li-Kermi, coordinator of environmental education in the community of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Haifa and the surrounding area, explains: "The program creates an opportunity for the students to take responsibility for their immediate environment and discover involvement in environmental issues as young leaders for the future."
