To all whom it may concern r Be it known that I, RAYMOND M. PARRETT,

' a citizen of the United States, residing at Stephenson, in the county of Menominee and State of Michigan, have lnvented certain new and useful Improvements in Clasps. for Hose-Supporters; and I do hereby. de-

clare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the'art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in clasps for hose supporters, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device, which will effectively grip the hose and hold the same against accidental displacement.

Another object of the invention is to provide a clasp, which is so constructed. as to avoid danger of injuring the hose and cans ing runs and the like therein.

A further object of the invention is to provide a means by which the device may be made to firmly grip the hose and hold the same until released by the user.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hose supporter constructed in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a face view thereof, Fig. 3 is an edge view, illustrating the device in its released position, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view, illustrating the device in its locked or closed position.

Referring now to the drawings by characters of reference, the numeral 1 designates as an entirety the main frame of the device, comprising the side bars 2, which are bent outwardly at their upper ends, as at 3, and then back upon themselves, as at 4, to form a loop for the reception of the upper portion of the elastic of the supporter. A suitable ring or slide 5 is slidable on the supporter and holds the same firmly around the connecting bar between the bent back portion above referred to.

The opposite ends of the arms 2 are formed with loops 6, which are continued downwardly in parallel relation, as at 7,

and formed at their lower extremities with the loops 8, the ends of which are bent instructure above referred to, together with the pad or cushion, forms one ofthe clamping members, and the cooperating clamping member is designated generally by the numeral 12, and will be described in detail in the followingparagraph.

The cooperating clamping member 12 comprises the parallel arms 13 formed at their lower ends with the right angled extensions 14:, which extend through the loops 8, and areprovided with the inturned arms 15 at their outer extremities, which extend inwardly until they abut and then are bent outwardly to form a'l oop 16 for the retention of the friction pad 17, as clearly illustrated in the drawings. The upperends of the arms are bent inwardly, as at 18, to avoid danger of catching of any sharp edges or ends in the garments of the user.

In order to force the cooperating clamping member 12 into clamping position with relation to the clamping member first described, there is provided a suitablebail or loop 19 the ends of which are journaled in 'the loops 6. These ends are connected by bight portion 20 which is bent inwardly and upwardly as illustrated in Fig. 4, so

It will be apparent from the foregoing i that in use, the device is secured to the garter in any suitable manner, and upon moving the loop or bail 19 downwardly, in the position shown in Fig. 3, the pads may be moved outwardly. as shown to permit the upper edge of the hose to be placed therebetween. The loop is then thrown to the upward position, and it will be apparent that the member '20 will force the arms outwardly, thereby causing the pads to frictionally engage the hose and hold the same.

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed is A garment fastener formed of wire bent centrally to provide a horizontal suspending and pivoting bar, the opposite ends of said bar curved downwardly and directed inwardly toward one another, parallel supporting arms having one of their ends formed integrally with the inwardly directed ends of the said first named bar said supporting bars looped near their upper and lower ends, an extension formed on the lower ends of said bars below the loops, a friction pad supported by the extension, a second pair of abutting parallel arms having their lower ends directed outwardly and inclined inwardly, a second extension formed on the inclined portions of said arms a second friction pad carried by said second extension, said outwardly directed portion of the last named arms pivotally secured in the loops near the lower ends of the bars, and means pivotally mounted in the loops near the upper ends of the bars and engaging the parallel second arms for moving the friction pads into and out of engagement with one another.
