How can I use the Zoetrope 3D Model?: Examine the model from all angles. Do you think you can create your own zoetrope out of card? Try creating a cyclinder with small slits at the top, then a strip of paper with an image gradually changing below. Can you figure out how to make it spin?

What is a zoetrope?

The Victorian era in Britain was named after Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901. During this time Britain expanded its territory across the globe and the British Empire became the largest, richest and most powerful empire in the world. The Victorian era followed the industrial revolution and was a period of inventions, exploration and exciting discoveries.

One of these inventions was the zoetrope. A zoetrope creates an illusion of moving pictures by looking at images through slits on a spinning cylinder. It was a popular toy in the Victorian era and could come with replaceable strips for the inside to change the pictures.
