The 47th painting in my Sky Cats series depicts "The Battle of Pelusium". In 525 B.C. Persians attacked the Egyptian fortress in Pelusium. The attack was unsuccessful until the Persian general came up with a brilliantly devious plan. Using their knowledge of the Egyptians' love for their half cat/half human goddess, Bastet, the Persians tied cats to their shields and threw cats at the fortress. The Egyptians immediately surrendered rather than harm a cat.
