VIN’TIJ FOOD & WINE

The past year was filled with milestones for Todd Reber and his longtime Miramar Beach eatery.

“We’ve been here for 20 years,” Reber said. “We just recently relocated to Grand Boulevard with a great opportunity.”

Vin’tij is a favorite among locals and visitors, but Reber’s vision has always been to take the shop from its strip mall locations into a full realization of what Vin’tij dining can be.

“Everything that came from the opportunity was fulfilling the dream aspect of everything I wanted to do in a restaurant,” Reber added.

Vin’tij specializes in house-made, cold-pressed juices and superfood, and it offers menu items inspired by seasonal and fresh ingredients from local farmers and fishermen.

The new location continues to serve all appetites and diets, whether for carnivorous eaters or vegetarians. The menu contains options for people with food allergies and sensitivities.

As Vin’tij transitions to the larger venue, Reber has concentrated primarily on lunch and dinner at this time. Beginning in January, he hopes to add breakfast hours.

For the holidays, Vin’tij provides dining options: “We’ll be open Christmas Eve day for lunch only,” Reber said, “and New Year’s Eve day for lunch and dinner.”

HOLIDAY HOURS: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., lunch; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., dinner; Tuesdays through Sundays

7 WT CHARTERS/FLY FISHING SERVICE

For years, area diners enjoyed meals prepared by Chef John Jacob.

“I had gotten my captain’s license three or four years ago,” he said. “Cooking and fly fishing have been my passions my entire life.”

He reached a point when he was ready to shift from the kitchen to fishing. He developed 7wt Charters, with 2018 becoming the year he started to see how popular his fishing adventures could be.

“I guide mostly in the Choctawhatchee Bay,” Jacob said. “It’s all fly fishing. I don’t have any other gear.”

With 7wt Charters, Jacob takes his clients to any level of fly fishing that they would want, offering introductory lessons to novice fly fishers. He also can show experienced fly fishers the best way to work the bay as opposed to a stream or creek.

Since he ties his own flies, he makes on-site adjustments for the water presented on any particular day.

“It’s just such an organic way to fish,” Jacob said. “To catch a fish on a fly that you tied, it’s just beautiful.”
