It’s that time of year again - Spring Break is just around the corner, with students of all ages descending onto the white sand beaches.

But Spring Break also means increased law enforcement presence and a slew of rules in place just for the month of March. As always, the following ordinances will be enforced with a “zero tolerance” policy.

1. No possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on the sandy beach during the month of March.

This includes all sandy beaches in Bay County, including sandy beach behind businesses like Spinnaker or La Vela. This also includes any type of alcoholic beverages, from hard liquor all the way down to a can of beer.

2. No possession or consumption of alcohol in commercial parking lots.

3. All alcohol sales end at 2 a.m. through the month of March.

4. No open house parties.

5. Parking in a closed business parking lot is prohibited.

6. Overnight scooter rentals are not permitted.

7. It is illegal to climb, jump from or throw things from balconies.

8. Parking is prohibited on unmarked or unpaved portions of the road after dark.

9. Metal shovels are not permitted on the beach, and any holes dug in the sand should not be deeper than 2 feet.

Building sandcastles is fine, as long as the hole isn't deeper than 2ft and a metal shovel isn't used. If there's a metal shovel involved, it will result in a $25 fine as an Alabama youth minister, dubbing himself the 'sandcastle bandit' learned in 2017.
