PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – While some enjoyed music this beautiful weekend, other families came out to Frank Brown Park to do some fishing.

The annual Fishing Rodeo is put together by the Panama City Beach Optimist Club.

They partnered with ‘Fish Florida’ to pass out 250 rods, reels, and tackle boxes to children and their families to keep.

The Optimist Club also gave out prizes for the kids who caught the biggest bass, brim, and catfish.

Members say this event is something kids look forward to every year.

“They love it. They always look forward to this event every year, so it’s something they can’t wait to do. It’s fun, it’s a great event and the weather is perfect,” said Phil Chester, a member of the Panama City Beach Optimist Club.

The event was a huge success and the optimist club hopes to hand out up to 300 rods and reels next year.
