An air ambulance helicopter landed in an area of Flamingo Land after an alleged incident involving a child in a swimming pool.

The helicopter landed in the camping and caravan area of the park on Sunday afternoon.

Unconfirmed reports on social media suggested a child had to be rescued from the The Splash Zone after getting into difficulty.

One woman who was at the North Yorkshire park at the time of the incident told Teesside Live that a boy had went down a water slide but failed to come back to the surface.

A picture of the air ambulance helicopter landing on the site was also posted online.

Flamingo Land is yet to confirm or release details of the incident.

Teesside Live has also contact the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for comment.

In June, a six-year-old boy was injured at Lightwater Valley after reportedly falling 30ft from the Twister ride.

The ride remains closed as investigations into the incident continue.

North Yorkshire Police referred queries to the Health and Safety Executive which is carrying out an investigation.
