Flamingo fever! Delmarva sightings excite as they're blown off course by Hurricane Idalia

Hurricanes can of course be very destructive, but they also sometimes bring rare sights that are beautiful to behold on Delmarva and around the East Coast.

As USA Today reported, Hurricane Idalia is being credited with delivering a flock of flamingos to parts of the Eastern United States where they're rarely seen.

Three days after landfall, flamingo sightings had been reported in Alabama, South and North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia. And yes, here on Delmarva.

Flamingo sightings off Chincoteague, caught in photos, video

Daisey's Island Cruises delighted passengers with several flamingo sightings this week off of Chincoteague. Here are some photos of the exotic bird spotted and photographed near Wallops Island.

The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce also got in the excitement, posting this video shot by BIll and Maranda Reed.

"Look what was just spotted a few moments ago in the waters between Chincoteague and Wallops Islands- a flamingo!" the Chamber gushed on its Facebook page.
