In June, I visited my mother, a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor on Mount Carmel, Israel. During the trip, I traveled to the nearby enchanting Caesarea Harbor National Park, which hugs the Mediterranean Sea. Caesarea was the first century capital of the Province of Judea in the Roman Empire and headquarters of the Roman Legions with Pontius Pilot residing there. It is named for Augustus Caesar who entrusted the city’s building and its grand port to Herod the Great. The photo shows the captivating nymphaeum with its monumental wall of marble statues, a public fountain and meeting place.
