I think its working but it was slow going
We have a 16 yr old chihuahua that was turning her nose up most meals. Maybe ate about 2 teaspoons each meal. There were times we had 2 to 5 different cans of food/kibble going but she just wouldn’t touch it. We started feeding her steak, chicken, rice, people food, pizza, dog treats- what ever she would eat. Then that didn't last. We tried Gerber beef, turkey, chicken baby food. She loved it at first but again, it didn't last. We were getting desperate to get something in her 2x a day. She lost weight, went from 7 to about 4 pounds. We found this and it’s taken a while but she is getting in 2 meals a day now. She isn't gaining weight yet but she is eating more. You just have to watch it -don’t give the full amount it tells you to- she threw up the first time. It was hard to dose straight out of the pouch cause too much came out. We found a glass dropper at health store and put about 5-6 drops in her food & working her up to the recommended dose. I just know she is going in the right direction now - she is eagerly eating her food now & barking for it too. The good old days of her screaming for food are back. We couldn't be happier. We were so worried about her. Hopefully now she will put at least pound or 2 back on.

Jewels is our kitty who is at least 20 and possibly as old as 24. She definitely wasn’t a kitten when we received her and the ex claims she was four so who knows - with the help of this formula that she began Oct. 28th? She could be on track to be one of the oldest cats in the world according to some references. She definitely has the constitution to get there.

But in the last couple of years her weight had been starting to steadily drop as it does with many elder cats. She’s been as low as the mid 4s and I hate feeling her skeletal structure on her back and especially on her hips. The vet says she is healthy otherwise and she seems happy - pawing away the cardboard barrier on our stairs - then climbing our two story staircase to let us know it’s breakfast time at 5am nearly every morning. Not too shabby for a cat who is mostly blind and might be approaching a quarter century old!

High cal foods such as Royal Canin’s Recovery formula didn’t seem to help much with her weight gain. I’ve tried a dozen different types of speciality formula wet food to see if she will eat more heartily and put on some beef. Not much luck.

Based on the mostly outstanding reviews here I decided to give this formula a shot - especially since some of the reviewers had elder cats too like Jewels.

About half way through the bottle? Zero consistent results. Make no mistake about it, she appeared to love the stuff mixed in with her food plus a bit of water and cleaned her plate. (She has chewing problems too and the water helps.). However after this first week in November, I’m beginning to see some steady progress, holding at 4.8 pounds, then 5 for a few days, and then this morning before she even ate? A solid 5.2 pounds! That’s about a 10% gain in body weight since we started. Excellent! My goal is to get her up to 6 pounds by mid winter and I think that might be a distinct possibility.

When I read reviews and before I purchased the formula I just assumed that it is was strictly for high cal, weight gain only but when I received the bottle I noted that it also contains a laundry list of vitamins and minerals too. As a person who has pretty much consistently taken supplements for most of my life and experienced overall general good health, I’m a firm believer in their use and can’t help believe that supplementation would be good for pets too.

This is only anecdotal evidence and correlation but I’ve observed something else changing with kitty since she’s been on the formula. Her stools are much more consistently well formed and a uniform color. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Whether that is a result of her weight gain, the supplements in the formula, or a combination of both? It’s still a good sign of healthier digestive function.

I’m putting my order in for a second bottle and including some photos of beloved kitty. Isn’t she gorgeous?!?

The new pouch, with the picture of a cat & dog on the label, rather than the old purple and white, seems to have changed. I have been using this stuff for years, since the old purple and white plastic cylinder containers, and it had been working well. When I got the new two pouches, in my latest subscribe and save order, they seemed almost balloon like, which I just figured that they had been filled under pressure, initially. I opened one, it smelled okay, and I used it as I have been using it. One of my cats is 16 and has CUPS (mouth sores), so she gets fed meat babyhood mixed with other things like broth and a tablespoon of this to give her more calories. She had been doing fine, and has been eating the same mixture including this for over a year. When I made her breakfast a few days ago, with this new pouch, she immediately threw up after eating. I figured it was just a thing, so I gave her some saved in the fridge in an older batch, using the older Miracle Vet (chilling them works better for her sometimes) and she ate that fine. Later, I tried the newly mixed batch, with this new Miracle Vet again. Again, immediate and violent vomiting. I waited a few days (not adding the mircale vet to the mix, and she ate just fine). Then I tried some with the new Miracle Vet added and she immediately threw up again. I need to see about a refund on these, as either they have changed something, or they are contaminated somehow. I wondered about the balloon-like inflation of the pouches and now I'm wondering if it may be due to bacterial biological activity and resulting gasses (as I said, it did smell normal when I opened it). I am very disappointed as this worked so well for so long, I went through dozens of containers of Miracle Vet over the past few years, and now I need to see about returns (it costs too much not to) and find an alternative additive to give her more calories. Anyway, I'll be curious to see if anyone else reports problems with this latest batch in the new pouches. I should sit down and compare the ingredients, since I still have an old MV cylinder around (but not a purple and white pouch, unfortunately I threw my last one out when it was empty). I made check the local Petsmart or Petco to see if they have any older pouches of MV.

I got this to try and help the runt of the litter bulk up. She is half the size of her siblings at 4 months old... they had coccidia as well so that didn't help matters. On top of all this, she has the audacity to be a picky eater.

I got this stuff hoping it would help, but I had to throw it out after using it a couple days. The smell made me physically ill... like rotting fish and meat. I tried so hard to power through, but the runt decided she didn't like it either so I gave up. It's bad. I'm sure the stuff works great, it's very oily and fatty looking... just be ready for the smell.
