Nashik to host Kumbh Mela from October 2026

The Purohit Sangh of Trimbakeshwar has announced the dates for Kumbh Mela that will be hosted by Nashik between October 2026 and July 2028. The religious event is hosted once in every 12 years and is attended by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and sadhus from across the country.

NASHIK: The Purohit Sangh of Trimbakeshwar has announced the dates for Kumbh Mela that will be hosted by Nashik between October 2026 and July 2028.
The religious event is hosted once in every 12 years and is attended by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and sadhus from across the country. Though the event is spread across 22 months, the main event, shahi snan (Royal Dip), will be held from August 2027.

The purohit of Juna Akhada Trivikram Joshi, Purohit Sangh executive president Manoj Thete and Sangh spokesperson Rajesh Dikshit together made the announcement on Friday. Shad-darshan Akhada Parishad president Swami Sagaranand Saraswati Maharaj, Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad Mahamantri Harigiri Maharaj and other dignitaries were also present at the time of announcement.
While the flag hoisting will be held on October 31, 2026, the first shahi snan will be held on August 2, 2027. The shahi snan is the time when sadhus arrive with their chiefs at Kushawarta Teerth to take a dip in the water.
A dip at that time is considered to be auspicious and all the akdhadas arrive in a prescribed sequence. The second shahi snan is scheduled on August 31, while the third will be held on September 12. Every event will witnesses around six lakh people visiting each of the events at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar town.
With the dates announced, the Trimbakeshwar municipal council will now start planning for the event.
