It wasn't just her love for Stephenie Meyer's novels that inspired Summer to tattoo the Twilight cover art on her forearm. "When I discovered the books, I was lost," she told PEOPLE. "Since I picked up the series, I went back to school, started writing and began reading every book I can get my hands on." Now, with her graduation right around the corner in August 2012, the aspiring writer, who hails from Nacogdoches, Texas, hopes to one day create works that leave readers with the same sense of inspiration Twilight brought her. "I chose this cover art because it represents a new outlook on life, the temptations I have experienced and the love of a series that is unconditional," she said.

The Dublin native opted for a quote that played up the similarities between her and Twilight's heroine, Bella Swan. "The tattoo is in reference to a note Edward leaves for Bella in her truck when he has to leave for a while," she told PEOPLE. "I felt an affinity for her, being that I'm also clumsy and uncoordinated and forever being injured." Furthermore, Bee looks to her ink as a reminder of the many great people she's met through her love of Twilight. "For that, I will forever be grateful," she said.

While most Twilighters are devout fans of Edward and Bella, Chicago resident Nicole wanted to commemorate a different couple – Jasper and Alice. "I always get questions about what the quote means, because the words do not sound like they describe love," she told PEOPLE of the phrase, which Jasper uses to praise his lady love's lethal vampire abilities. The red scarf, featured on the cover of Eclipse, was added so people could "recognize that this is a Twilight tattoo without being extremely blunt."

When her daughter Courtney battled cancer, it was Twilight that gave Jackie and her family, including youngest daughter Kelsey, a morale boost. "It's been a special part of my life and I wanted to have a part of it with me forever," the Glen Carbon, Ill., resident told PEOPLE. So when it came time to design her first and only tattoo, Jackie sought her daughter's counsel. "Kelsey helped design the feather on the end to signify the Breaking Dawn honeymoon," she said.

"Something about this quote stuck with me as I read the book," Elizabeth of West Covina, Calif., told PEOPLE of why she opted to ink one of Twilight's signature lines. And while her tattoo is not always met with adoration, "My love for the books and movies makes me not care what others say or think. I display this with pride," she said.

For Amanda of Everett, Wash., Twilight hits close to home. "It somewhat reminds me of my relationship with my husband, Rob," she told PEOPLE. "We are so different, like night and day, but fell for each other instantly." And it seems Rob agrees – he tattooed the images of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart onto his wife using a pumpkin-carving template, and even had a "sick masochistic lion" inked onto his leg to match Amanda's "stupid lamb" art. "Instead of putting our names on each other, we did that," she said.

The Adelaide, Australia, native found herself in agreement with Volturi leader Aro when he used the Italian phrase "la tua cantante" to describe how Bella's blood sings to Edward. "I thought that was very apt," she told PEOPLE. "When you meet your soul mate, your whole being or 'blood' seems to know that you are meant to spend the rest of your life with this person. Hasn't happened to met yet, but I am still waiting."

Inspired by the way the Cullen clan all sport the familial crest in The Twilight Saga films, the Hogansville, Ga., resident wanted to similarly display her commitment to Forks's first family. "It's my way of wearing it as they do," she told PEOPLE. "After experiencing every word, every detail of the story several times, I feel like an honorary Cullen." In addition, Keri also designed a tattoo tribute to Edward and Bella's romance, saying, "I just wanted to hold the story with me always."

Just two days after getting Peter Facinelli's autograph, the Aledo, Texas, resident headed straight to a tattoo parlor and had it immortalized. "I wanted to have that be a part of me forever," said Kelly, who drove nine hours to a Kansas City fan event to meet the actor. "I asked him if he would sign my leg for a tattoo, and he laughed and replied, 'Sure, as long as you know you will not regret it!' I assured him that it was planned and I was going to cherish it forever."

Self-described "lamb" Aleece, who lives in Madison, Wis., told PEOPLE Edward's declaration to Bella reminded her of the dynamic between her and her fiancé. "I'm pretty shy and quiet and my fiancé would be the lion; he's outgoing, loud and confident," she said. "The quote fit not only my love for reading and my love for Twilight, but also my love for my fiancé. It shows that opposites can attract and that anyone can fall in love."

"I didn't want something extremely obvious like the book covers, but I also wanted it to be recognizable to somebody like me, who loves Twilight," Elaina of Clermont, Fla., told PEOPLE of her tattoo, a nod to the engraving found inside the locket Bella gives daughter Renesmee. "Like Bella, I had my child [10-year-old son Dylan] in mind when I read the phrase. I can understand the concept of loving and caring for somebody 'more than my own life.'"

A shared birthday – Sept. 13 – and outlook on love is what led Rachael of Lansing, Mich., to covet a Twilight tattoo in Bella's handwriting. "It's on my left collarbone so I can see it every day in the mirror," she told PEOPLE. "Its message will never be lost to me. Love is out there, in all forms. No one should ever stop believing that."
