Three Bucks County Towns Among 'Most Adorable' In PA: World Atlas

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Three Bucks County towns have been named among the "12 Most Adorable Towns In Pennsylvania" by World Atlas.

"The small towns in Pennsylvania give visitors a window into a straightforward way of life, where hospitable residents, scenic streetscapes, and a strong feeling of community foster a welcoming environment," says World Atlas in its social media posting. "Every town has unique characteristics and charms that make it worthwhile to explore, from Victorian-era homes to picturesque riverfronts or fascinating historical landmarks."

Making the World Atlas list from Bucks County are the Central Bucks County communities of Doylestown and New Hope and the Lower Bucks community of Yardley Borough. Also making the list from across Pennsylvania are Jim Thorpe, Ridgway, Lititz, Wellsboro, Honesdale, Stroudsburg and Milford. To read more, click here.

The World Atlas calls Doylestown "a compelling town" boasting Fonthill Castle, "a magnificent 20th-century mansion with different architectures" that offers daily tours; the James A. Michener Art Museum, featuring Pennsylvania Impressionist works; and the Mercer Museum, "a distinctive concrete castle holding a sizable collection of artifacts.

"Visitors can take in Doylestown's scenic splendor by visiting (nearby) Peace Valley Park, featuring attractive walking routes, boating options, and lake vistas. All who travel to Doylestown can anticipate a fantastic experience," the World Atlas says.

"Charming" is the word the World Atlas uses to describe New Hope Borough.

"New Hope sits on the Delaware River shores and draws tourists with its thriving arts community, old-world charm, and gorgeous settings," the World Atlas says. "A wide variety of cultural experiences are available for visitors to partake in the town, home to various art museums, theatres, and live music establishments. Numerous performances are held annually at the renowned theatre, the legendary Bucks County Playhouse. Main Street is full of unique boutiques, antique stores, and cozy eateries, making it a pleasant promenade for tourists."

The folks at the World Atlas also point out "notable historical sites that shed light on the town's past," including the Parry Mansion and the New Hope Historical Society. "New Hope owns a well-deserved spot in the most adorable small towns to visit in Pennsylvania."

Another "adorable" town along the Delaware River's eastern shores is Yardley, which World Atlas calls "a beauty to discover."

The picturesque waterfront setting is among Yardley's distinctive features, says the folks at World Atlas, noting that visitors can take strolls along the riverbank or enjoy the magnificent vistas of the Delaware River.

"The town's beautifully maintained 18th- and 19th-century buildings provide a window into its illustrious past ... Yardley also holds several community activities year-round reflecting the town's active sense of community.

"For visitors seeking a tranquil and endearing small-town experience, Yardley is a gorgeous destination boasting natural beauty, historical appeal, and community spirit."
