missed the Wizarding weekend (so some shoppes were closed) but mid week October was cool - Mill Cafe was great for lunch ... and popular!
cool pottery center w/ its own shop of locally made unique/beautiful items.
Reminders of the flood of 2016 thru out town. Would love to visit during an historic house tours weekend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 31, 2022
Love an old charming historic district? Historic Ellicott City is one of the best a short distance from Baltimore! And it has a lot to offer: shops, bars, restaurants, a wine shop, a distillery, and more. I've been a few times to walk up and down Main Street and go into some of the shops and restaurants. It's really beautiful and special with old store fronts and facades and signs. I brought my mom here for a few hours when she was visiting a month or two ago and she was CHARMED. I find it charming, too. And there are some great shops and restaurants (I've particularly enjoyed Manor Hill Tavern and Syriana Cafe for food/snacks/coffee). Parking can be found in few lots but can be a little harder to find if you're there at a peak time (I've always found parking pretty quickly whether I came in the morning or evening). If you live in Baltimore and want to check out a different area for a morning, afternoon, or evening, check out Historic Ellicott City.

This city looks like it's full of history. I'm going to research and document my journey here in the Baltimore area.

5 - stars for message of hope and love. People are working very hard to get back to normal and it will take years to recover from a few floods.
The most common thing to see on the street is a dumpster.
Keep up Historic Ellicott City - we will come again!

Super cool historic area to check out. There are a bunch of shops, galleries, and restaurants to enjoy. There is even a trail nearby. The building facades are charming and fun to just look around. It is a great place to visit.

We come here about twice a year to walk the downtown. Ellicott city has had it's hard times over the years because of the floods, but they are recovering. I can't say that they've fixed the flooding issues, but it looked good recently. It's in a small valley of sorts, so it can be a bit hilly and the side walks are not wide. The parking is free, at least if you can find a parking spot in certain areas--we usually park over by Su Casa. There's tons of cute restaurants and stores, some that are boutiques and others rather artsy. Currently, there is some renovation going on, so some of the places are empty. There are a few small parks--one that has a train!--and a visitors center. There are a couple of taverns that have beer, a huge wine shop, the giant furniture store, and ice cream. It's not a huge downtown, so swing by and check it out.

Historic Ellicott City is a beautiful, charming little town to visit! They have had there share of troubles with destructive floods the past couple of years and they are still in a rebuilding phase but it is still a nice place to visit.
There are lots of unique shops, antiquing and restaurants to visit and it's also good for a nice stroll.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
