      Growth Form

      Tree
      Shrubs, up to 10 m tall; bark greyish white, smooth; branchlets slender, 4-angled or subalate, puberulous, glabrescent. Leaves simple, subsessile or with petiole up to ca. 0.2 mm; lamina ca. 3-7 x 2-3.5 cm, oblong or obovate, obovate-orbicular, cuneate or narrow at base, subobtuse or subacute at apex, entire, glabrous on both sides at maturity, slightly coriaceous. Panicles subpyramidal, ca. 10-20 cm long puberulous; flowers ca. 2-3 cm across, attractive, pink, rose or white; petals ca. 1-1.5 cm long, suborbicular, clawed with much crisped margins; claw slender, ca. 0.8 cm long. Capsules ca. 1 cm across, obconic.
