The Dancing With the Stars pro is dipping his toes into the acting world, starring opposite Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years) in Swing Into Romance, an original movie coming to Great American Family network. EW has an exclusive first look at the trailer for the romantic film (above), as well as exclusive rehearsal footage of Savchenko and McKeller practicing a swinging routine (below). Swing Into Romance stars McKellar as Christine Sims, a former dancer who returns to her hometown for their famous Fall Festival only to discover her family's general store is in trouble. To save the family business, Christine has to return to her roots and dust off her dancing shoes, all while coming face to face with her ex-fiancé, Alex (Savchenko) and maybe even finding love. David Haydn-Jones (Supernatural) also stars as Matthew, the new (dance) partner in Christine's life. 'Swing Into Romance'. Courtesy Great American Family After breaking out as a teen star playing Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, McKellar has come to be a staple in romance and mystery television movies (most often for Hallmark). She's so associated with the genre that her involvement was spoofed with a fake film titled, Deadly by Surprise, in 2019's Knives Out. McKellar isn't known as a dancer on screen, but she did compete on season 18 of DWTS and placed sixth. However, she was not paired with Savchenko, but fellow pro Val Chmerkovskiy. Current DWTS cohost Alfonso Ribeiro won that season. Now, alongside Savchenko, McKellar gets to put the dancing skills she learned in the ballroom to the test once more. Savchenko first premiered as a pro on the U.S. version of DWTS in 2013 on season 16, but he didn't return until season 23 in 2016 and has been a member of the pro cast ever since. He made headlines in 2022 on season 31 when he was paired with draq queen Shangela. The two made it to the finals, placing fourth, and Savchenko even competed in drag himself on the finale. McKellar stopped by the DWTS ballroom this week to cheer on her Swing Into Romance costar, who is partnered this season with Oscar winner Mira Sorvino.
