GRANTHAM (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's wrestling team fought hard at the Chocolate Duals hosted by Messiah College and came away with a thrilling victory over McDaniel College. The Aggies finished 1-2 with losses to Milikin and Ithaca.
DelVal opened the day against Milikin and dropped the first six matches before clawing back with wins in the final four bouts. Luke Moore got the squad going with a 13-3 major decision over Nick White and fellow rookie Jaden Roberts followed with a 14-3 major decision of his own. Isaiah Johnson locked down a 6-2 decision over Cade Scott and senior Austin Williams finished with a win by fall over Ruben Silvas. Unfortunately, the late push was not enough to overcome the early deficit.
The best match of the day came against the Green Terror of McDaniel. The Aggies began the match with wins by Jacob Blair and Ryan Arndt to take a 7-0 lead. McDaniel fired back with a pair of wins by fall at 141 and 149 pounds to take a 12-7 advantage. A 7-4 decision from Greg Croce over Xavier Howard brought DelVal back within two, and a big win by fall from Joseph McCullough at 165 pounds put the Aggies back on top, 16-12. DelVal earned three falls in the final five bouts to pull out the victory. Jaden Roberts earned a pin at 184 pounds and Austin Williams went into the heavyweight bout protecting a three-point DelVal lead. The senior took care of business with a win by fall to secure the 28-19 victory.
Moore and Roberts earned wins by decision in the Aggies match against Ithaca College and Logan Flynn pitched in with a win by decision at heavyweight. The Bombers won six of the 10 bouts to earn the 24-15 win.
