GAZA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said that two Palestinian children were killed and 14 injured in the latest Israeli airstrike on Saturday afternoon in Gaza.

The shrapnel of the Israeli war jets missiles fired on western Gaza, killing amir al-Namarah, 15, and Lou'ai Kuhail, 16, both from Gaza city, the ministry said in a statement.

Eyewitnesses said that four missiles, fired from an Israeli war jets, struck an empty five-store incomplete construction opposite the main security headquarters of Hamas.

People in the neighbourhood had their home windows smashed, and at least 14 civilians were wounded, most of whom were children and women, according paramedics who arrived at the scene.

The Israeli army said in a statement that its air forces targeted a building in western Gaza city that is used by Hamas for training and Hamas militants dug underneath the building a tunnel that is used for storing weapons.

Israeli Radio reported earlier on Saturday that more than 60 rockets and projectiles were fired by militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel, where the Israeli army fired back and targeted dozens of Hamas and Islamic Jihad military facilities.

Meanwhile, local Palestinian and Israeli media reported that senior Egyptian security intelligence officers are mediating between Israel and Hamas-led militants in the Gaza Strip in order to reach ceasefire and end escalation.
