Just because you are visiting Panama City Beach during the winter doesn’t mean you have to forget fishing. There are plenty of fish being caught here locally.

Stop by any tackle shop to get details. Surf fishing can can be very productive this time of year. If you have a boat you can take advantage of the fact that redfish usually hang around the area all winter long. Hire a guide or get some advice from locals on where to look for them. A popular fish during the winter is the silver trout. It is smaller than its famous larger cousin, the speckled seatrout, but there are plenty of them hanging out around bridges and deep holes in our local bays. Another winter favorite is the tasty Black Sea Bass. These are structure-loving fish, associated with reefs and rubble offshore, but they can also be found around structures in the bays.
