Botanical Description

much branched shrub to 2m in the wild but about 15cm or more tall in cultivation, eventually wider than high. Leaves up to 1cm long, elliptic to narrowly oblong, leathery, grey-green. Flowers to 1cm across, solitary at the stem tips, late summer. Sardinia to Crete and North Africa on cliffs and rocks usually near the sea. Not fully hardy and best in the alpine house. Will sprout from the base if killed back by frost.
