Statement: I live on a kibbutz and love the life in a small rural locale. From my bedroom window one can see the fields of the kibbutz and take in the smells of the field. By the smell, I know what is being grown in each season. The kibbutz is a special way of settling the land and that is why it is an Israeli symbol for me.

Statement: The G and O form the number 60, and inside them, a Star of David represents the symbol of the State of Israel, immortalizing the establishment of the State and our deep ties to our homeland. The Star of David is on the prayer shawl worn by every Jew praying for peace and to an end to war. The Jew whose past includes the longing in the terrible Holocaust to reach a place of refuge in the Land of Israel. Falafel that I made out of the letter O is obviously the national food of our country, as are the pretzels made from the letter G. The prickly pear cactus that I made from the letter L is a desert plant, which, like the Israeli, has a sweet fruit, though it itself is somewhat prickly. The Kova Tembel hat (an Israeli icon) that I put on the E has accompanied us since the time of the pioneers up to the kibbutznik of today.

Statement: What is characteristic of Israel is its summer when everyone goes to the beach. I therefore decided to draw flip-flops which everybody wears and beach-bats which everyone plays with at the beach. The cactus is also typical of Israel: prickly and rough on the outside, but sweet and nice inside. And finally, the Kova Tembel hat worn by Shrulik, the most Israeli character ever.

Statement: My Israel is a land of milk and honey. We live in Kfar Yehoshua, and pomegranates and olives grow in the garden. And in the fields, wheat ripens alongside barley. The fig ripens at this time, and of course, we breed cows for milk which is sold to Tnuva (the Israeli Dairy Manufacturer). Our neighbors produce honey. I drew the seven species in the drawing: wheat, barely, the vine, fig, pomegranate, olive, and date, as it is written in Deuteronomy, Chapter 8: "For the Lord thy God brings thee into a good land, a land of water-courses…. a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey".

Statement: I decided, in drawing the logo, to use a human image, that symbolizes us, the Israelis, still trying to achieve stability and a tranquil life after 60 years. Our life here is constantly accompanied by hardships and a struggle for survival. We Israelis are stubborn, optimistic, do not give up, fight, wrestle, sweat and always aspire higher. The multi-colored logo, to me, symbolizes optimism, the desire for peace, Israeli humor that is preserved despite all the hardships, and the good that we aspire to.

Statement: My Israel is nature: the variety of landscapes and animals that exist only here. Above the letter G there is an owl, found primarily in the north; that is why the Galilee mountains are drawn inside the letter. To the right of the picture is a wild ass, against a desert background, an animal in grave danger of extinction worldwide. Here in Israel, a lot of hard work is being done to preserve it.

Statement: My Israel in my drawing is the Israel of bygone days when the State was founded, and even before. My Israel consists of kibbutzim and agriculture and citrus fruits, once the main export. There is the yamulka that that points to the ties of the Jewish People, whose name comes from the Bible, a map of Israel, the seven-branch candelabrum, the Star of David, Israel at 60, the Amos satellite, three olive branches and stones of the Western Wall.
